This is an important message from the The LEP Network to the leadership candidates ahead of September. The uncertainty caused by the government over the future of the LEPs and our LLEP in Leicestershire has been really unsettling and has delayed collaborative economic partnership working at local level.

We need a period of stability and certainty and a genuinely transparent funding for long term economic regeneration. The bidding and tiny pots of money available waste far too much time and effort.

Given the economic crisis facing the country now is the time to collaborate in the interests of our communities more than ever. It is time to set aside Egos and Logos. I certainly don't want to be using energy debating who does what for another two years or waiting for government to deliver policy initiatives!
