Andy Reed joined friends at the Loughborough based Youth Sport Trust Awards in Telford last night.
Andy Said “It is one of the sports evenings I look forward to, where genuine hard working and inspiring people are making a difference to people’s lives.
I enjoy celebrating people who have committed their professional and personal lives to young people and being inspired by the young leaders.
If I’m honest I have fallen out of love with elite and professional sport over the years (I have probably been spoiled by watching so much) and much prefer the grassroots and volunteers stories. It is why I appreciate the work of so many charities like YST in this space.
Well done to all involved and reminding us of the importance of physical, mental and emotional well-being of young people and the role sport and movement has in that journey.
I just wish everyone involved didn't have to make the case year after year to embed good practise and the right level of funding in the education system year after year. I am still baffled how few of my former political colleagues get this issue or battle to give young people these opportunities in EVERY school across the country.”
