Putting people at the heart of sport and recreation
In his role as Board Director Andy Reed attended the 2017 Sport and Recreation Alliance Sports Summit earlier this week at the Emirates Stadium.
The summit addressed the hurdles we face in getting the nation active, asking; if we are actively embracing diversity? are we safe and inclusive so that everyone is encourage to be more active? and do we have the right skills in place and the desire to change?
The summit started with a welcome from Emma Boggis, SRA CEO and was followed by a number of sessions featuring key note and panel speakers:
Session 1: Breaking down barriers, Stephen Frost, Principal at Frost Inc
Session 2: Looking after players, fans, staff and volunteers, Peter Wanless, CEO of NSPCC
Session 3: Challenging the myths, Will Watt, Product Director at Jump Projects
Session 4: Creating a culture people want to be a part of, Jens Boegh-Nielsen, SVP Head of Sales and Marketing EALA at Avanade
The summit was a great opportunity to hear from leading experts outside of sport and recreation about how they have adapted to overcome some of the challenges that the sector is facing. An interactive panel session allowed the audience to ‘be part of the conversation’ and also facilitated the sharing of best practice.
