No Return to Normal for the SajeImpact Team

Everywhere you look people are writing about life after the Coronavirus pandemic. For many there will be a rush to get back to normal as quickly as possible. However, for Saje Impact it has been the moment to stop reflect and redirect our passions.

Friends and those who follow our story will know that 2020 was supposed to be a year of change and a new season anyway. I hit 55 last year and had always made the decision to ‘retire’ at this stage. However, one of my greatest weaknesses is the inability to say no and focus on one or two projects. This is why the ‘retirement’ wasn’t going very well. I was just filling up anytime I got back with new ideas, projects and passions.

The last few weeks have been a wake up call. It has felt like a mini rehearsal for the more balanced / retired life that I was hoping to create anyway. And guess what. I enjoy it. I would like to be doing a bit more of the travel and networking that this period has curtailed but I have really coped with slowing down and even enjoying a bit more gardening!

We are still not 100% sure what it will look like, but we won’t be rushing back to take up more of the same work and projects. The #lockdown has reignited my passion for causes around social justice at home and abroad so Saje Impact will increasingly be leading campaigns and thought pieces for itself rather than just for our clients.

We will continue to serve our existing ‘clients and partners’ - perhaps with even more quality time for this work. But we will also be looking at new passions and projects, not just confined to the sport and physical activity agenda.

One of the projects will be sharing and commenting upon the ideas we come across and how we help embed them in the mainstream of debate in the public square. So the Views from the Margin series will continue with more engagement with the existing think tanks and web sites on the centre left. But there will be others!

So watch this space as we make new announcements and share ideas about what a renewed future will look like!
