A real pleasure to join the The United Kingdom Science Park Association at their conference yesterday at Charnwood Campus in Loughborough.
As always a great opportunity to meet experts in their field and learn so much about this important sector. It was also an ideal opportunity to talk a bit about our strategy at the LLEP around our Science Parks and innovation work which are an integral part of our Pillars - Productivity, Innovation, Inclusive and sustainable.
I was particularly speaking on our sustainable and inclusive growth pillars. I am passionate about these. We know trickle-down economics doesn't work and therefore we need to collaborate to ensure business growth across the County is distributed equally. As the OECD has said we need a growth model that is
'equitable and sustainable from the outset'
Just as importantly it is good to be back seeing the Old Astra Zeneca site returning and growing into a significant employer in the town. Well done to the opening speaker Gosia (Malgorzata) Khrais, BSc (Hons), PGDip, CQI for driving forward the campus
It was certainly one of those days I had imposter syndrome. Everyone in the room knows more about your subject than me!
Well done to James Chaffer and the team for coming back to Loughborough and lovely to see Mark Lewis and Loughborough University speaking about collaboration.
