Last night's inaugural Labour Society for Sport dinner at the Oval cricket ground was hosted by the original voice of the Champions League Clive Tyldesly wielding a branded mic and roving camera (who promised in the case of heavy rain to move outside and continue his address at the outdoor lectern, providing the crowd serenaded him with D:Ream)
Andy Reed last week played alongside his former parliamentary colleagues in a charity football game at QPR to celebrate 50 years of the Lobby football team.
Reed was invited by Ed Balls (captain) to join the line up…which included newly elected Mayors - Sadiq Khan, Andy Burnham, Steve Rotherham, Former MPs David Miliband, Jim Murphy, James Purnell and current MPs Stephen Kinnock Ben Bradley, Huw Merrimack and Justin Madders as well as old timers and staffers like Andy!
As I rebalance my portfolio in 'retirement' I am really pleased to say it has given me the chance to offer some volunteering time ahead of the general election on possibly my favourite and only skill area - Sport and physical activity policy formulation and delivery! I've signed on the dotted line and am now deeply committed to helping for this next period - who knows how long for!

The project led by Charnwood Borough Council has created a more open and pedestrian-friendly space with increased parking in the area for visitors and shoppers.

The impact of the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) over the last 13 years was celebrated during an event at the National Space Centre.
The business-led strategic development body helped to bring almost £860 million of investment into Leicester and Leicestershire between 2011 and 2024.
The LLEP worked with partners and government on more than 360 projects after being established 13 years ago to drive forward regeneration and growth in the local economy.
Business leaders gathered to find out more about the multi-million investment being delivered through Loughborough Town Deal.
Around 90 guests attended a business briefing to hear about the progress of the 11 projects worth over £40 million of investment which are being supported by the Town Deal.
Andy Reed OBE, vice-chair of the Town Deal Board, told guests the projects were designed to boost skills, regenerate the town, and support the local visitor economy.
Visitors to an award-winning park in Loughborough will soon be able to enjoy refreshments in revamped surroundings under new plans which have been revealed.
Charnwood Borough Council will be improving the outdoor seating area at Queen’s Park café, next to Charnwood Museum.
Work is due to start at the beginning of March and is scheduled to be completed in April.
The plans include improved access, a new canopy, landscaping, and furniture.
