We have now all seen the long awaited Levelling Up White Paper. It has been a long time coming because this policy started life as a slogan and not much more. Now some serious thought has gone into this policy where does it leave us?
For me the policy had to pass a number of tests.
Does the analysis and remedies make sense - economically and socially ?
Does it recognise what has and hasn’t worked in the past (The name is new but tackling regional inequalities isn’t) ?
Are there achievable targets and ways to measure progress/ success ?
Are the resources available to match the ambition?
A visit to the Charnwood Campus today to catch up with the progress of the old AZ site as a Life Sciences cluster opportunity. When AZ pulled out in 2010 it was a massive blow to the towns economy and the individuals concerned. It was one of the biggest issues of bad news that crossed my desk as an MP. I still recall where I was and the gut wrenching feeling when I was told by the AZ CEO of their Board decision.
Fast forward a decade and now through my volunteering still championing what the site has to offer for jobs and wealth creation in the local economy! Great to catch up with the team and see what more we can do to work together across the various agencies and local authorities.
Two new partners have joined the team at Sajempact this week - Danielle Roberts and Derek Peaple. Both bring enormous experience to talent offers by SajeImpact for its clients.
Andy said “As I step back I still want the philosophy behind SajeImpact to carry on. It means if people are committed to tackling injustice through positive impact in communities across the world and fit in with a culture of servant leadership they can offer our clients what they have hopefully come to expect. The value is is the relationship.
