I had the chance to visit Stoke Mandeville Stadium, meeting with Rob Wilson and Martin McElhatton OBE from WheelPower. Having heard a lot about the venue over time, it was useful to finally see it in person and get a clearer picture of its role in the wider sports landscape.
The scale of the site and the possibilities for future development were certainly notable. It was also interesting to see the existing partnerships with various organizations and individuals, including Mark Ormerod, Activity Alliance (Adam Blaze, Sarah Brown-Fraser), Access Sport (Helen Rowbotham), Sport England, the Sport for Development Coalition, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, The Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA), Jack Buckner, and Tom Walker.
As Director of Saje Impact, I'm now considering how we might be able to contribute to the upcoming phase of the stadium's development and its established history.
