We are delighted to announce that SAPCA has appointed Andy Reed as its new independent Chairman.

SAPCA, the Sport and Play Construction Association was formed in 1997 and its role is to foster excellence, professionalism and continuous improvement throughout the industry, in order to provide the high quality facilities needed at all levels of sport, physical activity, recreation and play.

Andy succeeds Eric Page and talking about his appointment, he said:

“Building on the fantastic work Eric has done over the past six years, I want to widen the understanding – among the government and policy makers – of the role SAPCA can play in building an active nation. I want to ensure SAPCA remains part of the strategy and that the government understands that the Association and its members have a valuable contribution to make.”

Andy will be supported by a Vice-Chairman following an upcoming election where Nigel Allen (Conica) will stand for re-election against Tom Ralph (Fosse Contracts).

Andy has a unique background in sports policy, funding and development and has extensive experience in dealing with national governing bodies and sports bodies – from the grassroots to ministerial level. Elected to parliament in 1997, Andy spent 13 years as the MP for Loughborough. During his political career, he was involved in some of the most high-profile sports projects in the history of British sport – including the rebuilding of Wembley and the bid to secure the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Andy’s appointment marks an important milestone for SAPCA and we look forward to sharing his progress in this new role.
