Andy and Sarah have stepped back from running sajeimpact full time but they are still around to help the team, bring people together for new projects and of course volunteer.

New sports fund to tackle youth crime

New sports fund to tackle youth crime

Thousands of young people at risk of becoming involved in crime will be put back on the right track thanks to a new £5 million fund for crime-cutting sports schemes.

Charities across England and Wales will be able to bid for new money to run programmes designed to steer young people away from law-breaking and into positive activities aimed at teaching teamwork, resilience and discipline.

Grassroots Volunteering

Grassroots Volunteering

Fabulous quote from Jill Scott MBE on I'm a Celebrity this weekend.

"Being involved in sport, it's not about being involved at an elite level; it's about learning how to win and how to lose, and helping others.. She won because she lived out these values.

After turning out for my local Vets side Birstall RFC last week, I was asked at short notice this week to 'save' a local game between Quorn and Market Harborough as there was no referee available.

After benefitting from 40 years of being part of the #Rugby family and traveling the world it was an obvious choice. Although I have no experience as a Referee like most players I have 'reffed' every game I have played in! stepping in on Saturday to make sure 35 players had a game was nerve wracking and yet enjoyable at the same time. I certainly appreciate all those referees who have put up with my antics over the years on the pitch!

Reed Welcomes Labour to Loughborough

Reed Welcomes Labour to Loughborough

Former Labour MP for Loughborough welcomed the 2022 East Midlands Regional Labour conference to Loughborough University on Saturday 5th November.

He was asked to welcome delegates to the town and the University and introduce Margaret Beckett MP who was the main guest speaker for the morning.

Loughborough remains one of the key marginal seats that will determine who governs after the next General Election and the the sitting Tory MP looks very vulnerable to Labour - especially after her full support was thrown behind Boris Johnson for the latest leadership bid despite him reigning in disgrace only weeks beforehand.

Other guest speakers included Lord Coaker, Jonanthan Ashworth MP and Yvette Cooper MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Office Minister.

East Midlands Chamber Awards

East Midlands Chamber Awards

Director Andy Reed was a guest at the East Midlands Chamber 2022 Business Awards at The Kingpower Stadium tonight.

Representing the LLEP at the prestigious awards to celebrate the best of Leicestershire business Andy said

“Clearly it’s a tough year for business so it’s probably more important than ever to recognise those individuals and companies that have made a contribution to our local economy and people. Each of the winners deserved their awards, and I know that in most categories it was impossible to pick the stand out winner!

Andy Reed Speaks at UK Science Park Conference

Andy Reed Speaks at UK Science Park Conference

A real pleasure to join the The United Kingdom Science Park Association at their conference yesterday at Charnwood Campus in Loughborough.

As always a great opportunity to meet experts in their field and learn so much about this important sector. It was also an ideal opportunity to talk a bit about our strategy at the LLEP around our Science Parks and innovation work which are an integral part of our Pillars - Productivity, Innovation, Inclusive and sustainable.

I was particularly speaking on our sustainable and inclusive growth pillars. I am passionate about these. We know trickle-down economics doesn't work and therefore we need to collaborate to ensure business growth across the County is distributed equally. As the OECD has said we need a growth model that is
'equitable and sustainable from the outset'

Reed Continues as Joint Chair of the LLEP

The Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) has decided to appoint two joint-chairs as it works with partners on proposed devolution while continuing its day-to-day business.

Andy Reed OBE, who has been serving as interim chair since Kevin Harris stood down in April, will continue to focus on shaping the future of the LLEP.

The former Loughborough MP has also been meeting with representatives of local and national governments in recent months against the backdrop of a proposed County Deal or other devolution arrangement.
