Another chapter closes as we held the last meeting of the Loughborough Town Deal Board yesterday at the newly opened Generator Loughborough - one of our successful projects opened just last month.

I have reflected on my economic development journey since I started work in the late 1980s at Leiecstershire City Council, at County Hall, and as Chair of the Economic Deevelpment Committee at Charnwood Borough Council when Martin Traynor OBE, FIH, MIoD and I sat as Chair and Vice Chair of the Single Regeneraiotn project Board in 1995 onwards! I have written a rather long blog Saje Impact about my experiences. But all the Chairs have given so much of their time - Thank you @Jonathan Morgan Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL and especially Martin who has put so much time into this project!

Much has changed in and around Loughborough over that time and the challenges and opportunities are completely different.

One major takeaway in a week in which impatience for change and immediate solutions are required in the modern world. These projects and changes take TIME. They require difficult decisions and multiple funding streams to come together. They require risks and seeing it through. We sign off with all but one of the projects complete - with the Flooding Scheme still being worked through to help hundreds of residents. Again these take time, skilful engineering and major works.

I sign off and free up a bit more of my voluntary time but will miss working with the Board and the officer team from Charnwood Borough Council who have a passion for the Town and seeing it improve.
